To and fro
the ocean slows
light each peak with a glimmer of last
each wave coming into and out
of existence oh how time flies
as the sun dissolves into the quiet night skies

Should a man fall for climbing too high
Or worry himself sick as the moments pass by
With too little time to plan or define
Does he fear to fail, or to fall behind
Or fear that his hands might become stained with pain
Yet both are the prices that he must sustain
For both he shall taste, whatever his fate—
The triumph of effort, the burden of this frame
How wonderful it is, to have the right
To stand on Blessed strength, and to lose or take flight
May he succeed or fail by the strength of own
And reap what he’s earned, by the seeds he hath sown

The Hand moves—
through what was,
through what is—
never pausing,
never turning back.
It does not loosen its grip,
does not unwind the thread;
it pulls, steady and certain,
drawing you forward
whether you resist or not.
So go—
not because you must,
but because there is no other way.
Live in such a manner
that when the final hour finds you,
you are not haunted
by what if,
what could have been,
or even what was.
Instead,
may you rest gently—
like one who has made peace
with the passing of time,
who lies down,
turns off the lamp
as they have done a thousand times,
draws the sheets close,
and welcomes
the Good Night.

Bestow on me thy wisdom
So that you may arm me in the cold night
With hopes of a distant kingdom
Breaths of valor ahead of the fires of fight
Arm me with your tender care
So that cold iron could not end
What is your gift amidst the despair
Go on and I'll defend
Illuminate the skies
So that man will see
Amongst all are allies
Go on and set us all free

I can see now more clearly
that years down the road
we will be too busy
to stop to say we love them sincerely
we will be too old to argue
with fear of smother
too impatient to spend our time educating one another
too comfortable to embrace the unknown
and all too late to realize
in loving, we had grown

Don't pick up my pieces.
They are mine.
We both broke each other once.
You told me back then you'll be fine.
Time does heal
What closed wounds reveal
There is nothing more to say
nothing else that I could possibly convey
you say a call on the phone would suffice
it was more than time that was our price
when a man and woman are apart
that is but heaven's part
you and I had our time
and I cannot explain to you
how much my heart still chimes
hearing your name
knowing how amazing you became
thinking of you next to me
remembering the parts of us that were so much the same
but my love, it is now time for us to each move on with our separate lives
do not stifle our potential
do not
remember what we learned and shed all that is unessential
I love you
nothing will change that
And I hope that when you reflect back one day about how everything went
with a smile in fact
that your time was well spent
that you could be appreciate what it all meant
you'll know that we are fine
and that it was just a blissful moment in time
